How watching my Mom struggle with Dementia changed my life.

I truly believe staying young at heart is they key to Healthy Aging. Whether it is maintaining a good support social network, fitness, strength, dancing, learning new skills, or all of the above. This is why I stay as active as I can. Most of my network is 10-25 years younger than me!

My Mom was a vibrant lady who loved to laugh, dance and bowl. As she aged her health did decline. She had Osteoporosis, which at that time kept her from continuing many of her activities. I now know...this was one of the worst things she could of done. Along with decrease activity, when she retired at the age of 65, she also lost alot of her social network. This is when her mind really started to decline. She began to forget things, get lost on where she was going, and directions. When I turned 45, was the first time she forgot my birthday. I knew her decline was progressing. I had lost her.....or more accurately she lost me. In 2020 during the peak of Covid, I was forced to put her in a Nursing home. Nothing broke my heart more than to know I was saying Goodbye to my mother. Over the next 4 years, she continued to decline and lose all motor skills and ability to speak.

I sure would love to hear those stories you use to tell over and over again, just one more time.

This is why I started this journey and to hopefully share it with many of you through Ageless Strength.

Here are a few pictures of her throughout her battle.
